Hello everyone and I am back with more in the winter surge and this one was a long time in the making. I didn’t do this pattern for such a long time because the (J) Line went under significant renovations over Jamaica Av for over 2 years and skip-stop service over Jamaica Av got suspended east of Crescent St. But now with renovations done and knocking out what I had to do before and after the big swap, I finally have the chance to do this. You viewers requested this, and I’m proud to present it to everyone. This is an interesting pattern. In the middle of rush-hour in the peak direction, service along the Jamaica Line is served in a skip-stop pattern with the (J) and a replicate that runs on the same route as the (J) but it has different stops, and this was given the designation (Z) when the Archer Av Line opened in 1989. The goal of the skip-stop was to alleviate congestion along the (E) Line from JFK Airport towards Manhattan. It prompted and encouraged passengers to use the (J) and the (Z) between Manhattan, Brooklyn and Queens while still running express in Brooklyn. I’ll talk more about this variant in the return leg towards Jamaica Center, but until then I hope you guys enjoy this run that has been years in the making.
