Constraining Physics Beyond the Standard Model : a case for Axion-Like Particle (Julia Sisk-Reynes)

Описание к видео Constraining Physics Beyond the Standard Model : a case for Axion-Like Particle (Julia Sisk-Reynes)

Axion-Like Particles (ALPs) are a generic prediction of string theory. High-quality X-ray observations of bright AGNs embedded by rich galaxy clusters provide some of the tightest constraints on the coupling of very-light ALPs (of masses ~1e-12 eV) to the electromagnetic field. In my talk, I will present the tightest constraints inferred to date with Chandra observations of the luminous quasar H1821+643, and present exciting prospects with upcoming missions such as Athena and AXIS.
