Back-to-Basics: Life Cycle Logistics

On September 2, 2020, the Under Secretary of Defense for Acquisition and Sustainment launched "Back-to-Basics" to bring the Defense Acquisition Workforce Improvement Act of 1990 into the 21st century. After several decades of increased workforce mandates, getting "Back-to-Basics" means a refocus of our resources on the Defense Acquisition Workforce who develop, acquire, and sustain operational capability. Defense Life Cycle Logistics play an integral role in the product support and sustainment of equipment and capability for the warfighter - how we support a capability must be a factor in what and how we buy it. It is critically important that sustainability be considered throughout a program's life cycle to ensure the best performance for our warfighter – at the best value for the taxpayer.
