Mustang Week! Best Wash and Dry For Your Car - Chemical Guys Car Care

It's Mustang week here in the Detail Garage! We show you the proper techniques and tips to give your car an award winning shine. This 5.0 Mustang GT is the perfect canvas to demonstrate the proper washing and drying techniques to prevent the installation of scratches or swirls.

Everyday full blown detail starts with the wash and more specifically we start by detailing the wheels. While racking up miles your car is also collecting road grime, filth and brake dust which is intensely corrosive and if left to embed the surface and cause pitting, clear coat failure and wheel failure. After rinsing down the wheels to knock off the heavier, loose grime we spray mist of Sticky Citrus Cleaner Gel to encapsulate the surface contamination so it can't harm the finish as we scrub using the Easy Reach Wheel Detailing Brush which works well all the way around the wheel. Cleaning the most obvious area of the wheel, the face, using the Green Flagged Tip Brush is quick and simple. Lastly, before rinsing away the filth we cleanse the tire of road grime and previous dressings using the Stiffy Blue Brush.

Moving on to the paintwork, Nick shows you how to use the TORQ Snow Foamer to produce tons of shaving cream thick suds to reduce the chances of installing swirls or scratches while you scrub. Carbon Flex Vitalize Wash grabs ahold of surface contaminants and safely glides them off the paintwork while utilizing the Big Chubby Wash Sponge. Taking advantage of the two bucket method we prevent harming the pristine finish of this pony.

One of the most critical steps of detailing is in the drying process. Missed water droplets can dry into hard water spots that etch and stain paintwork. Also careless drying techniques result in hideous swirls that require machine polishing to correct. Gently wiping the paintwork with the Woolly Mammoth Drying Towel insures that the surface is completely dry and scratch-free to showcase the beautiful deep sea of blue metallic flake.
