Here in the South we serve hush puppies with Pork barbeque, fish dinners and almost any meal. They are very easy to fix using self-rising corn meal mix, preferably stone ground corn meal. Fry at 350-375 degrees in a Fry Daddy or any deep fryer;r even a skillet works fine. Shredded onion is often put in the batter.
