South African authorities are investigating Duduzile Zuma-Sambudla, daughter of ex-president Jacob Zuma, for allegedly recruiting men to join Russian mercenary forces in Ukraine. Seventeen South Africans were reportedly lured under false pretences, handed to a mercenary group, and trapped in Donbas. The allegations, made by one of Zuma-Sambudla’s sisters, have been referred to a special police unit reviewing possible criminal charges. Local media reported the MK party, led by Zuma, facilitated training in Russia. South Africans are prohibited from joining foreign armies without government authorization, raising concerns over legal accountability and the safety of those involved.
