Next we segue from official mission packs to a truly third-party add-on, which was originally commercial, then later released for free.

Zaero seemed to be the most highly-regarded originally-commercial add-on I could find beyond the two official mission packs, and so far I'm pretty impressed with it in terms of level design and new additions. I saw some comments in chat criticizing this pack for low-quality textures, but I dunno, I appreciate that there's new texture work in this to begin with. I even feel like it reminds me of the Supplice demo, which is a very good thing.

The only unfortunate things I'd pick on are the presence of turrets (yes, again, although there are new ways to handle the ones in this pack that arguably make it less of an issue than Ground Zero), and the ammo distribution being uneven - for the most part it's been overly plentiful, but then I ran into a huge issue toward the end of the third unit where I was almost completely out and even resorted to using the blaster against a couple of tanky enemies - which are REQUIRED to kill for progression, another thing I might object to especially without proper ammo balance.

Interestingly, this pack includes the Power Screen as an obtainable item - something that was present in Quake II but never actually used. It's effectively a reversal of the Power Armor in terms of its protection from the front and back (and even uses the same icon when active).
