Rearing Bombyx Mori Silkworms from Egg to Moth
is it easy to raise Silkworms?
I have raised silkworms a couple of times before with great success but I have only managed it when I but the worms at a good size already.
I have also tried rearing these worms from egg before and unfortunately I failed!
So this time around I was determined to get it right!
I wanted to raise the silkworms from eggs to moth and complete a full life cycle.
In the video I show you the eggs once they have hatched and clips of the worms every couple of days so you can see the progress and growth of the worms.
I knew from previous attempts that I needed to have everything clean and sterile, I made sure to sterile my equipment each time I used them and cleaned the worms out daily as much as I could.

Unfortunately I still made mistakes and I started losing the silkworms daily.
Theres some mistakes I think I made such as overcrowding the worms at the beginning, at one point I made the food too wet! which resulted in some getting sick, I did use different equipment for the sick caterpillars and I also sterilised it all in between each clean but Im thinking using the hot water wasn't good enough.

I spent so much time trying to raise these worms from egg as well as the amount of money I spent on food so this is extremely disappointing for me. I am annoyed at myself and it can be very disheartening but I will give it another go when I have more spare time and hopefully not make the same mistakes again.
