Transfer dental school to the US - foreign dental student advice

Transfer dental school courses to the United States would be a dream, right? Many people ask if they can transfer their credit and finish dental school in the US and obtain their DDS degree. Unfortunately, if you are in dental school, you are not allowed to transfer your course to the United States.

The whole education system is very different in the USA compared to other countries. As an international dental student or foreign dental student (BDS student), you likely went straight from high school into dental school. However, in the United States, after high school you have to take 3-4 years of college education before you can become a DDS student (or DMD). In other words, if you want to be a dentist in the US and have finished your high school here, you have to go through additional 7-8 years of additional education (college plus dental school).

American dental school will not accept your courses in your country if you have not FINISHED the program and obtained your degree (likely a BDS degree).To be accepted into a dental program, either an advanced program or a specialty program, you must first finish dental school in your country before you apply to the programs here.
