Circuit Specialists Variac Teardown and Review - Model TDCG-2D

I was disappointed with reviews of all the cheap Variable AC Transformers that were available on the market, so I started looking for something that was a little higher quality. I stumbled across a familiar name, Circuit Specialists and they were nice enough to send me a TDCG-2D unit that I could tear apart.

Note that this model has been discontinued for the new Gen 3 version with built in current meter.
