Sinéad O'Connor (Dublin, 8 december 1966 – Londen, overleden 26 juli 2023) was een Ierse singer-songwriter en politiek activiste. In 2017 ging ze zich Magda Davitt noemen en vanaf 25 oktober 2018 droeg ze de naam Shuhada' Davitt vanwege haar bekering tot de islam
De singer-songwriter uit Dublin bracht gedurende haar leven tien albums uit. Het bekendst werd ze met haar versie van Nothing Compares 2 U van Prince uit 1990. Ook in Nederland was het nummer haar grootste hit. Het stond acht weken op nummer één in de Top 40.
Sinéad Marie Bernadette O'Connor kwam uit een katholiek gezin in Dublin. Op haar vijftiende kwam ze in een streng katholiek opvanghuis terecht nadat ze was betrapt op winkeldiefstal. Haar zangtalent werd hier ontdekt door een vrijwilliger die haar voorstelde aan haar broer Paul Byrne, die de drummer was van de Ierse rockband In Tua Nua. Ze richtte daarna een eigen band op, waarmee ze de aandacht van de muziekindustrie op zich vestigde.
O'Connor maakte direct veel indruk met haar eerste album The Lion and the Cobra uit 1987.
Na het succes van The Lion and the Cobra bracht de zangeres in 1990 het album I Do Not Want What I Haven't Got uit met daarop Nothing Compares 2 U. Het werd haar grootste hit die in de Verenigde Staten, het Verenigd Koninkrijk en in veel landen in Europa waaronder Nederland op nummer 1 terechtkwam.


Sean-Nós Nua is het zesde studioalbum van de Ierse zangeres Sinéad O'Connor, uitgebracht op 8 oktober 2002 door Vanguard Records. Het bestaat uit traditionele Ierse liederen, de titel betekent "nieuwe oude stijl" en verwijst ook naar de populaire stijl van traditionele Ierse muziek sean-nós.
