Richard Rice on "The Development of the Doctrine of God in Seventh-day Adventist Thought." These remarks are related to the chapter on "God" that Rice wrote in "The Future of Adventism: Theology, Society, Experience" which Gary Chartier edited. He reviews the history of Seventh-day Adventist understandings of God from Arianism to Trinitarianism and comments on the doctrine of God in contemporary theology more generally. The first spokesman in the contemporary ""Openness of God" or "Free Will Theism" movement, he is a professor in the Loma Linda University School of Religion. He is also the author of "The Reign of God: An Introduction to Christian Theology from a Seventh-day Adventist Perspective," "God's Foreknowledge and Man's Free Will" and "Suffering and the Search for Meaning: Contemporary Responses to the Problem of Evil."
