One of the most critical design decisions for our Ridge View project revolved around the sun. To guide our process, we conducted a solar path analysis, tracking the sun's movement throughout the day. This allowed us to optimize the orientation of the building for maximum natural light and warmth.

The site had an existing building with a driveway on the south side—a space traditionally ideal for gardens and outdoor living. Unfortunately, this meant that the best light was being used for parking rather than living.
For the new build and renovation, we completely re-oriented the structure. Our clients are an outdoorsy family, so it was essential to ensure they could fully enjoy those sunny south-facing spaces.

We also relocated the parking away from the home, creating a more open and inviting environment—replacing tarmac with atmosphere.
