Classroom Activities with Student Choice

Описание к видео Classroom Activities with Student Choice

Increasing Student Independence through Student Choice is on of my favorite practices in Elementary School. Today, I discuss how I implement Student Choice into daily classroom activities through rotations, centers and small group. I believe, we as teachers, have a responsibility to prepare our students for success. One important lesson that students can learn is how to be independent. In my classroom, students are given choice boards to choose from for both Reading and Writing. My partner teacher gives students choices in Math, Science, and Social Studies for her goal work. This ability to choose their assignments individually, allows students to feel that sense of independence and increased belief and responsibility. It then becomes our role to support each student on their path and continue to push them to be their best and learn to manage their time.

This method can be used in any classroom, including Daily 5, where you want to promote an increased interest in education.
