FFVII - Honey Bee Inn keyhole scenes (unobscured)

Описание к видео FFVII - Honey Bee Inn keyhole scenes (unobscured)

The keyhole scenes in the Wall Market without the keyhole graphic imposed over the top and the red lighting. The area is still bigger than the screen, so I still had to use manual panning.

The first keyhole is the Queen's Room, and here a "president" roleplays a king tells a tale. He tells a tale of a resurrected Satan and a queen who will not awake, those seeking the promised land, and the man with blue eyes and great white sword ("great unsheathed sword" according to DLPB's Beacause retranslation project) who will not lead them there. My interpretation was that the queen is Aeris, who does not awaken once killed by Sephiroth, who is possibly Satan-- or Jenova, both have resurrections of sorts. The tales of the Promised Land is less obscure. But is the man with blue eyes and sword Sephiroth or Cloud? Cloud doesn't lead the party to the promised land, and Sephiroth leads Cloud to places that aren't the promised land. I would say "on his back" would relate more to Cloud, and it is the sword I would call "great". Although I think that makes less sense.

The music in the background is Trail of Blood, known better for and named after the trail of blood leading to President Shinra in the Shinra Building. The lightning strikes in the actual scene actually fade the screen colour more to the non-red lighting but go immediately back. I made the lighting a bit lighter during the flashes.

The identity of this king has been something of great confusion. You can see in the video that I decide that the man is President Shinra. This made most sense to me, the man has a wife, is an adulterer, is referred to as a president, and there are a couple of Shinra Manager-looking guys. They where different clothes mind, but the data even calls them "shinra_ippan_2", and the model only otherwise appears in the Shinra Building. In fact, everything adds up, right?

Well a Japanese player might not think so. It's really curious. Here is a discussion about it:

Essentially, the president is more like a company president. They don't use the same word to refer to the president. Although the Turks use the word for Rufus, their boss. It's entirely possibly that it is actually the Pres. then, I think? I'm confused, but I don't really understand Japanese so I'm not exactly an authority on the matter.

The Lover's Room has a small Cait Sith model, that jumps after a short time, and an old couple. The old couple are Reeve's parents. Cait Sith's theme plays in the background. Reeve controls the Cait Sith dolls and can listen through them, I wonder why he might listen on his parents in a love hotel? There are three scenes, and third one has only a black screen- yet the models are still set to appear.

Reeve's mother is in Case of Denzel, there known as Ruvie. She is also Scottish. I would think it fair to overlook that she is not Scottish in FFVII because Cait Sith isn't really either. Reeve's father doesn't appear and isn't mentioned either. Case of Denzel takes place how long after that scene at the Honey Bee Inn? Denzel is orphaned due to the fall of the plate that takes place likely that night. I've not seen, read, or heard Case of Denzel so I can't comment much. Though I think it is quite likely that this scene and the pre-existence of Reeve's mother was not in memory when writing Case of Denzel.

I got the idea to make this video from someone on the Qhimm forum. They asked if there was a mod that removed the keyhole, and then I thought that would be not so interesting as a mod, but definitely interesting to see.
