When it comes to finding this game, I have had odd experiences. I used to see it in literally every Atari collection with a duplicate to boot. Lately, I almost never see it in a lot...which is weird. It belongs in any library and that isn't just because of its legacy. Sure, this was the first survival horror game, even if a bit primitive for modern audiences. The more you look at it, the more it carries all the elements of what you're used to and it was 1982. Despite that, it's still a great game...if a bit short. At first. This sort of offers a B story in its difficulty select, letting you add a little bit more to the challenge once you think you've got the game down. And it keeps adding. But what I like most of all is that it's absolutely perfect for a dark room, CRT at night experience. It just had the perfect mix of spooky vibes, visuals, and sound effects that still hold up today.
