#InspirationsFromTheMaster - Perception - we can see things in so many different ways. But to be able to see it in another way, we have to first LET GO of the way we are seeing it right then. And knowledge is essential in helping us make this perception shift. It helps us see everything differently. Like when we look for the different images in an optical illusion for we KNOW there are more than one. More instances are when an elaborate Biology class made us UNDERSTAND our bodies differently, or when we think someone has a crabby personality, only to LEARN that their painful disease and constant aching is coming out as them being grumpy and grouchy.
Spirituality is something that enables us to gain knowledge, so that our perception is shifted and we can see everything a little bit differently. Therefore, Pujya Gurudev used to say, "It's not that 'something different' is seen, but that people come to see 'everything differently'". In spirituality, we understand that truth pervades everything. So following that path hasn't let us "see God or a superpower", but in actuality, we have merely come to see everything, differently.
About the Speaker: Pujya Swami Chinmayananda Ji
Hailed as the second Swami Vivekananda, Pujya Gurudev Swami Chinmayananda (1916-1993) is an orator, writer and leader par excellence, a patriot and spiritual giant, one of the finest representatives of Indian spiritual heritage who spearheaded a global Hindu spiritual and cultural renaissance that popularised the religion's esoteric scriptural texts, teaching them in English all across India and abroad.
He worked tirelessly with tremendous energy for more than four decades to spread the message of Vedanta, leaving behind a great legacy for man. He has authored 95 publications, including commentaries on the major Upanishads and Bhagavad Gita. He was a visiting professor of Indian philosophy at several American and Asian universities and he conducted university lecture tours in many countries.
The sprawling worldwide, spiritual, educational, and charitable organization of Chinmaya Mission that encompasses more than 300 centres in India and internationally, carries on the bright torch lit by this great saint.
