Wheels are the most important part of your skates. Wheels connect you to the ground. The better the wheels the better the skating experience.

Wheels are available in a variety of sizes. Wheel sizes are measured by the diameter in millimeters . Standard wheel sizes are 55mm, 58mm, 60mm, 72mm, 76mm, 80mm, 84mm, 90mm, 100mm, 110mm and 125mm.

Wheels are also available in a range of hardness. Hardness is measured on the Shore durometer scale. The higher the number the harder the wheel. For practical purposes, the range is 80A to 90A. 80A is considered very soft and 90A is very hard. Harder wheels wear more slowly and will roll faster. Soft wheels have more rebound, grip, and shock absorption.

The core of the wheel is the plastic centre which houses the bearings. A large plastic core will increase the speed of the wheel and a small core will result in better shock absorption.

The profile of the wheel is the shape of the wheel. Wheels generally have a flat profile, round profile or a bullet profile. A bullet profile is great for edging and will have less rolling resistance. Round profile is still suitable of edging but has a stronger center edge that allows for better balance. Flat profile is best of tricks and jumping because if offers the best stability.
