ALMS GIVING CEREMONY LAOS | Surreal experience & rude tourists

Today we woke up early to experience the Alms Giving Ceremony in Luang Prabang. In this Laotian Buddhist ritual, monks accept food offerings at sunrise. We read many horror stories about how tourism tainted and ruined this ceremony. We wanted to ensure that as foreigners, we attended as respectfully as possible. Therefore, we sat on the opposite side of the procession and remained silent.

Many other tourists got in the faces of the monks to photograph them. Try not to do this if you do decide to attend the ceremony. :)

A while later, we walked up to one of the Buddhist temples in town to catch an incredible sunset. We visited the night market once more and enjoyed some delicious street food. Sadly, our time in Laos has come to an end for now. We cannot wait to plan a trip back here. :)
