Hello folks. Once again, I went to the Mad City Model Railroad Show. Needless to say, I had a lot of fun there. As such, I put together a highlight reel of the trains on the layouts that I considered the best.

00:06 D&RGW 340 scurries along the G-Scale layout on the floor.
00:29 The Thomas models have returned. This includes Richard and Neil, both of them were custom-made. Because Britt Alcroft unfortunately passed on, I paid tribute to her with this short clip.
01:01 In a scene reminiscent of the 1940s-50s, a Southern Pacific daylight passenger train meets one from the Union Pacific on the American Flyer layout. Tbh, the SP daylight engine sure didn't look good, largely due to the historical inaccuracy of its design.
01:34 A Chicago & NorthWestern commuter train meets a freight train. Meanwhile, another freight train passes on the line in the foreground. If it weren't for the EMD on the third train, this might've been something straight out of the '70s.
03:28 CSX's Law Enforcement unit scurries past with an intermodal train. However, it's not alone, as a Union Pacific oil train is keeping pace with it, while a coal train (also from the UP) comes by in the background.
04:49 An Illinois Central passenger train sprints down the mainline, with an interesting car bringing up the rear.
5:20 A Baltimore & Ohio boxcar freight meets a Metra commuter train flying through the station in push mode.
05:55 A classic postwar Lionel layout in action, as summarized by these next two shots. I always liked seeing those old-school Lionel layouts.
06:12 The LEGO layout is back in town. Much like last year, it still looks sharp.
06:20 In a scene representing the Wisconsin Central in its heyday, a pair of WC freight trains cross a bridge over the river.
06:50 A Union Pacific steam excursion, led by Big Boy 4013 (should be 4014), marches through the station. Unfortunately, both it and another train in the background got stuck.
07:29 The UP train is underway again, but the other train (with an interesting lashup) is still struggling, as the first two engines appear to have deserted the rest of their train.
07:51 Eventually, after a little bit of frustration, the intermodal freight gets a move-on. Further back, an Amtrak passenger train (with a Siemens Charger up front) arrives.
08:43 Next is something out of a basement model railroad layout. A Burlington Northern ore train meets what appears to be a Penn Central freight train. Obviously, it's not historically accurate, but it's what it is. Towards the end of the clip, the ore train somehow separates, if you'd forgive me for mentioning it.
09:45 A small LEGO train runs around its loop while the Rebel Alliance (with the help of Indiana Jones no less) battles the Galactic Empire on Hoth. Imagine if Indy was in the Star Wars saga, that'd be something else. 😆
09:49 Next up is a few shots representing the Santa Fe of the 1950s-60s. First, we have Santa Fe's El Capitan meeting a freight train, while another AT&SF passenger train exchanges passengers at the nearby station. You just can't go wrong with Warbonnets.
10:17 Next a pair of Alco RSD-15 'Alligators' in Zebra paint leave the Santa Fe yard with a freight train.
10:39 Finally, the circus train swings around the bend on its way to its next stop, with one of the Santa Fe's beautiful 'Blue Goose' locomotives in the lead.
11:19 In a scene representing late 1960s-early '70s Wisconsin, a Soo Line freight train meets one from the Great Northern. Somewhere in 1970, the GN, along with the Burlington, NP, and SP&S merged to form the Burlington Northern railroad, while the SOO retained its identity for the rest of the period.
12:27 Next is a scene depicting modern railroading. A BNSF oil train, led by an H1 C44-9W (With the Swoosh logo on its nose) meets a Union Pacific grain train.
13:17 In a scene straight out of the 1940s-50s, NKP 759 meets a Santa Fe freight train, likely somewhere in Illinois.
13:34 In another scene representing 1960s Chicago, a MILW passenger train overtakes a stopped Santa Fe freight train.
13:58 The California Zephyr/Rio Grande Zephyr whizzes by, with an all Rio Grande F9A-B-B-A set in charge.
14:24 A MILW Hiawatha hurries past, and then meets an NS freight train? Oh well, what can you do?😅
14:45 Southern 2716 chugs along with its train, with a T-Rex stowing away.
15:06 An Amtrak passenger train glides through town. Wouldn't want to be that F unit right now.
15:18 A UP office car special, with the SP heritage unit in the lead, plays hide-and-seek with the buildings as it races along.
15:28 A Deltic in America? Yup. Too bad it never happened in real life.
15:38 While the background train is clearing out, another one photobombs it. This one had a fictional BN D9-44CW and a GE GEVO demonstrator in the consist.
15:59 The last scene of the video depicts a 1960s Kansas City Southern passenger train gliding through the forest in the sunset.
