I touched down in Sarasota earlier than expected (shoutout to Allegiant for being on time — a budget airline miracle!). I didn’t swim (wind said “nope”), but it was the perfect spot to soak up that Gulf Coast vibe. Along the way, I spotted a dream boat with triple 300 Mercury motors… and yes, I was jealous.

Next up — Old Salty Dog for lunch. Dana, our awesome server, kept things running smooth. The fish sandwich was a little dry but tasty, fries were classic, and the real winner? The key lime pie — tart, creamy, and unforgettable. Add in a waterfront view and I was in full Florida mode.

We wrapped up at our VRBO trailer just outside town — clean, cozy, AC blasting, and surrounded by trees. A few USB ports didn’t work, but it had a fun, campground-meets-cottage vibe that made it the perfect budget-friendly crash spot.
