Soaring Above the Holy Land: An FPV Drone Adventure at the Sea of Galilee

Beautiful Eastern Galilee in Spring of 2022. Rhoda and I needed to test the new equipment we got from the states, and we thought, what better time to do it than in the spring, and what better place to fly it than in the Sea of Galilee.

But, more specifically, in the region of Capernaum, and then head to the ancient country of the Gadarenes, or simply put, the east side of the lake at the slopes of the pigs.

Pigs? Yes, pigs. The gospels mention an event when Jesus met a possessed man, and He cast the demons out of him into a herd of pigs. These pigs ran down the mountain, straight into the lake and drowned. So, we thought, why not fly down these mountains with an FPV drone... but not drown.

And, of course, this poses a giant problem. The distance is about a kilometer, so will the reception even work? And then you've got all of the cellular towers, electricity lines, rain, and a host of other problems that will make it nearly impossible for us to make this flight.

But, of course, we were going to try it anyway. So sit tight, buckle your belts, and join us for this adventure that's mixed with fast flight, mountain dives, tech issues, and the exploration of the beautiful land of the Bible.
