Gladys Horton (1945-2011), the original lead singer of the Marvelettes, performs the group's 1962 hit, "Beechwood 4-5789" at a Doo-Wop Society of Southern California concert in City of Industry, California on February 23, 1992. Ms. Horton continued to perform until 2009. From 1989 to 2007, the Doo-Wop Society of Southern California worked passionately to showcase the pioneers of rhythm and blues and vocal group harmony. Thankfully, the DWS filmed their concert events and made them available to the public.
