Setting goals can help kids develop a sense of responsibility, perseverance and working toward something. Here’s how to help kids set New Year's resolutions.

Start with the acronym S.M.A.R.T. when helping them set their goals.

Specific:
Drink my entire water bottle each day
Ride my bike 3 times this week

Motivated:
When kids are involved in making the goals and writing them down they are more engaged and motivated.
Make a chart or calendar with them.

Age-appropriate:
Pre-schoolers may help clear the table after dinner
Teens may help out by cleaning their bathroom once a month

Relevant:
Something that is meaningful to their life and their growth

Timely:
Practice something for x minutes every day
Learn how to play a piano piece BY a certain date
