Описание к видео Boss TB-2w...Does It Live Up To The Hype?

Of all the collaborations we never saw coming, the loving relationship between London's lil' old Sola Sound and Japan's titans of mass production Boss is probably top of the list. One has painstakingly hand-crafted boutique fuzz pedals from hand-selected parts since the 1960s; and the other has churned out more effects pedals than anybody else, ever. So when they teamed up to put out 3000 true-to-original MkII Tonebenders, the whole world wondered whether the end result would be huge or hyped.

(...and so did the pedal scalpers; with many of these pedals being snapped up by savvy entrepreneurs and offered for resale at vastly inflated prices. Oh the world we live in!)

But all weirdness and questionable ethics aside - were Boss and Sola Sound actually able to pull this off? Could a circuit that has only ever really been built one at a time be put into wider production, whilst still using NOS Germanium transistors? Today, we'll be finding out.

In terms of the fuzz circuit, it's been voiced to match Anthony Macari's original MkII - but with a few extra features to make it a little modern day friendly. As well as being able to use a normal 9V power adaptor (which I won't be touching today...we're going 9V battery only, folks) you can choose between buffered & true bypass, and also run the pedal at three different internal voltages for some slightly different voicings and behaviour characteristics. Add in the smaller footprint and hammered silver enclosure to match the OGs, and the end result is really rather appealing.

What do you think? Does it live up to the hype? Or is it 'just' a very sorted Tonebender with mod-cons? Comment below!
