In 2022, students from a highschool in Warsaw participated in a School of Democracy project. One of the tasks in this project was to create a School Participatory Budget.

The high school's management has allocated 5,000 polish zloty (approximately €1,000) towards this goal. A team of students active in the Student Council organised the entire process - from the creation of the regulations to the implementation of the winning project.

This video was produced by our Partner, Center for Citizenship Education (PL), in the context of our project "Democratic Innovations in Youth Work" (DIYW). It is available with English, German, Catalan and Spanish subtitles. Original language: Polish.

We have produced a series of 9 educational short-videos showcasing democratic innovations and inspiring stories of people who participated in their design and implementation (e.g. citizens assemblies, participatory budgeting, etc).
Democratic innovations are extra-electoral mechanisms, more inclusive and deliberative ways of decision-making that encourages the participation of citizens, especially youth, in public decision-making beyond traditional elections.
