How does a Cone Clutch work? | Skill-Lync

Описание к видео How does a Cone Clutch work? | Skill-Lync

In some of our previous videos, we have discussed what clutch is and some of its types. But, not all the clutches have rotating plates serving as frictional surfaces. There are cone clutches that have different frictional surfaces.

In this video, we have explained what a cone clutch is, its construction, working and applications with its advantages and disadvantages.

A cone clutch has a male and female part with conical frictional surfaces. This enables them to transfer high torque and it is easy to engage and disengage the clutch. Also, these clutches require periodical maintenance which is a major disadvantage.

Cone clutches are preferred in race cars and extreme off-road vehicles. They are also used in synchromesh and epicyclic gearboxes.

That’s all about cone clutches. Stay tuned for more interesting videos.
