In this episode of The Newshour Agenda, anchor Madhavdas Gopalakrishnan will discuss how the Muslim Youth League, the youth wing of the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML), appears to have caused a commotion after a video of its members chanting anti-Hindu slurs during a rally in Kasargode, where the league members gathered to show support for the violence in Manipur, went viral. On Tuesday, July 25, the slogans were hoisted in Kanhagad in the Kasargode district as part of the league's statewide programme to show support for Manipur. The event started at approximately 5 pm. Women were among the hundreds of participants at the rally. The event was reportedly opened by IUML national general secretary Adv. Faisal Babu. We are joined by a few panelists expressing their views on this issue. The 27-second video, which surfaced on social media accounts, depicts two lines of protesters carrying signs as they walk through Kanhagad, Kerala's Kasaragode District. The sloganeering is being led by a young man, who is seen raising his hands as he speaks the phrases. More than 50 people can be seen moving in two lines while chanting the slogans in the image. “IUML has sacked those people, who have indulged in hate speeches,” stated Roahan Mitra.
