Описание к видео Driver's Eye View (Hungary) Part 2 – Csajág to Tapolca with an iconic 1960's GM / NOHAB Diesel loco

Thank you to the driver/engineer of this iconic 1960's GM designed, NOHAB diesel locomotive for allowing me to mount a camera in the cab to record this video so that we can all enjoy the wonderful views normally reserved for the train crew.
With a surface area of nearly 600 km², Balaton is the largest lake in Central Europe and one of Hungary's main tourist destinations, particularly in summer, with many popular resorts along its shores, including Siófok, Balatonfüred and Keszthely. The favourable microclimate around the lake has helped the area to become an important wine producing region.
The railways around Lake Balaton have received significant EU funding as can be seen in the first half of this video where the track has been upgraded, with overhead electrification introduced as far as Balatonfüred reducing the journey time to Budapest by up to 20 min, with the elimination of the need to change locomotives at Székesfehérvár. To learn more about these upgrades, please click on either of these links - https://www.railjournal.com/regions/e... https://www.railwaygazette.com/infras...
Please sit back and enjoy the pretty towns, villages and countryside as our train makes its way along the North side of the lake to Tapolca.
The railway beyond Balatonfüred has not been modernised and electrified, although it is due to be upgraded in the near future. This video will become a historical record of how the line looked before electrification and station improvements to bring platform heights up to modern day standards.
