To increase penetration, we used the Orion 150s set at 30ws energy with sloped agitation enabled for the welds pictured. We didn't have a 0.6mm fill wire available so we used a 0.5mm fill wire for the welds. Notice the position of the electrode and the fill wire: the electrode is aimed at the surface of the knife and the wire is placed near the electrode tip. The heat of the weld pulls the fill wire toward the tip of the electrode and fills that area. Several welds will smooth the area and fill any gaps or holes.

We filled a large hole that we drilled into the surface using the same settings and same fill wire. Some small holes do not require fill wire. Small holes can be filled quickly and easily by placing a weld spot directly over the hole.
