Why digging holes to contain Evil/Hallow in Terraria is useless.

Terraria got the lands for you to discover. From west to right, top to bottom!... speaking of which, Underworld is located at the bottom of the world. It's usually obscured by all the rocks and dirt forming the terrain, so most players dig a hole which leads directly to Underworld. But some players dig a hole... for a different purpose.
