This is a bald eaglet flapping its wings on June 11, 2025 in Oakland, California. One eaglet is definitely bigger than the other. The bigger one is getting a lot of practice flapping its wings. It is amazing how big its wings have grown. The feathers are really filling in. The baby gray fuzz is nearly gone from the bigger eaglet. The smaller eaglet (in the video with mom and the last couple of pictures in the video) still has quite a bit of gray feathers and its wings are not nearly as developed as their sibling. Both eaglets still have a lot of growing to do so hopefully they’ll remain in the nest for a few more weeks. It is crazy how quickly they grow and that they’re thriving in such an urban environment. I was excited to catch pictures of mom flying into the nest and video of her flying out of the nest. Watch until the end to see her fly out of the nest.
