The entry-level Kicks finally gets a modern infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

Between tariffs, inflation, and shifting consumer preferences, affordable vehicles have become increasingly rare. However, Nissan still offers an assortment of models under $25,000 including the Versa, Sentra, Kicks, and Kicks Play.

Following a redesign last year, the Kicks is returning for 2026 and it’s significantly more expensive as pricing starts at $22,430 before a $1,495 destination fee. While it’s still affordable, the outgoing model began at $21,830 and had a lower $1,390 delivery fee. This means the cost of entry has climbed to $23,925, which is $705 more than its predecessor.

Thankfully, the 2026 model comes with some notable upgrades that make the price increase easier to swallow. Most notably, the entry-level Kicks S now comes equipped with a larger 12.3-inch infotainment system that features wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. It replaces the previous 7-inch display that didn’t support either of the popular navigation aids, much to the chagrin of customers who found out after buying one.

Besides infotainment upgrades, the entry-level crossover now comes equipped with two front USB-C ports. They replace the previous USB Type-A port that was riding solo.

The Kicks SV and SR haven’t been forgotten as they offer a new Cold Weather package for $300. It’s well-worth the money as the package adds heated front seats, rear air vents, and heated exterior mirrors.

Power is provided by a familiar 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 141 hp (105 kW / 143 PS) and 140 lb-ft (190 Nm) of torque. It’s connected to an Xtronic continuously variable transmission, which can be paired to an optional all-wheel drive system for an additional $1,500 or $1,650 – depending on the trim. While it’s not exactly a thrilling combination, drivers can expect to get up to 28 mpg city, 35 mpg highway, and 31 mpg combined.
