Описание к видео What We Wore: Fashion in Photos 1850s to 1929 with Heather Register Zbinden | Legacies & Lunch

Heather Zbinden will investigate women's fashion using photographs from the CALS Butler Center for Arkansas Studies as she traces the evolution of trends from 1850s to 1929.

What do the clothes in the photographs tell us about Arkansas women? Did Arkansas women conform to the fashion trends of the day or was the fashion superhighway delayed because of geography and economics? Fashion historian Heather Zbinden will investigate these questions using photographs from the CALS Butler Center for Arkansas Studies as she traces the evolution of women's fashion trends from 1850s to 1929.

Heather Register Zbinden is the Adult Programming Coordinator for the Central Arkansas Library System. She has a Master’s Degree in Public History from the University of Arkansas, Little Rock and has worked on public history projects in central Arkansas for over 20 years. She worked on Life Interrupted: The Japanese American Experience In World War II Arkansas as well as projects at the Old State House Museum, the Central High School National Historic Site, and the Mosaic Templars Cultural Center. Her thesis is the biography of Katherine Carson Breckinridge, wife of the United States Minister to Russia from 1894 to 1898 and includes a material culture study of Breckinridge's court gown (which is part of the Old State House Museum Collection).
