Trumpeter/vocalist Jack Sheldon@ Steamers. Sheldon, an important contributor to the entertainment industry form the 1940's to the present, has proven that jazz and show-biz can, and do, mix. He was an active participant in the West Coast Jazz scene of the 50's, playing a major role in developing that era's be-bop inspired sound. He has performed with such giants as Dizzy Gillespie, Dexter Gordon, Shelly Manne, Art Pepper, Frank Sinatra, Stan Kenton, Mel Torme, Peggy Lee, Rosemary Clooney, and many more, and has been nominated five times for the Playboy International "Artist of the Year" Award. In 1982, Sheldon organized his eighteen-piece Jack Sheldon Orchestra, and released two recordings with that ensemble.


The trumpeter's acting debut on "The Steve Allen Show" led to immediate recognition of his comedic skill, and he was soon given his own sitcom by CBS, "Run Buddy Run". He is also well remembered for his eighteen-year association with the "Merv Griffin Show" as featured soloist and musical director, as well as resident comedian. Not only has the trumpeter appeared on numerous movie sound-tracks, he has also appeared in a number of films including "For The Boys" and "Lush Life", and in many television series roles. Sheldon's distinctive voice has also been heard over the years in countless commercials, motion pictures and animated shows.
