ADAMS COUNTY, Ohio (WKRC) - A woman was injured after an officer-involved shooting in Adams County Wednesday afternoon.

The shooting took place in the Seaman area of Greenbrier Road around 3:30 p.m. The Bureau of Criminal Investigation said the two deputies involved are OK.

Police in Adams County aren’t releasing much information because the attorney general’s office is taking over the investigation, but Rosemarie Chase lives across the street from where the shooting happened. She says she saw and heard everything and it all started with a woman firing off rounds in a front yard.

"We heard pops like firecrackers, and the lady came to her car and we couldn’t figure out what was going on. We thought it was strange,” Chase said.

Chase has lived on Greenbriar Road for 11 years. She says the scene that played out in this yard was unreal.

“Physically, I’m OK, but mentally, I’m very disturbed. I don’t want to see that ever happening again because we were all standing in front of our big window watching this,” she said.

Chase says she’s not sure what led up to the shooting, but she did see a woman come out of the home, change her clothes in the front yard and that’s when police showed up. She says they gave the woman several chances to drop her weapon.

“I mean, it was just the policeman’s body language. You could just tell he was giving commands. He was putting his voice into it. It seemed weird, like she didn’t care,” Chase said.

Next thing Chase knew, police shot at the woman when she refused to put her gun down. Once she was on the ground, Chase says the woman raised her gun again and that's when she heard another shot, but she's not sure which gun it came from.

Shortly after, the woman was airlifted from the scene.

“They had her -- you could see oxygen. For a while, you can hear a machine. I guess she was on a monitor. They moved very quick.”
