Spring Crappie Fishing ~ Beat Down Break Down

Описание к видео Spring Crappie Fishing ~ Beat Down Break Down

Spring crappie fishing near Detroit Lakes, Minnesota. Perhaps the most coveted Minnesota fishing opportunity each spring. Before the walleye opener, many anglers target spring crappie. We join Tony Mariotti to share some tips on how and where to catch spring crappie. This fishing doesn’t take much equipment and anybody can do this. You don’t need a big boat or much for electronics.

With some sunshine and water temperatures creeping up into the low fifties, we found crappies shallow relating to 5-7 foot sand flats that had good stands of cabbage. Wherever we found good weeds, we found crappie. These locations were adjacent to shorelines and shallow pencil reeds where these fish will eventually spawn.

The program was simple in this clear water. Long casts from the boat with a small clip on pencil bobber and Northland Tungsten Crappie King Fly which is a hair jig. We didn’t need to use any type of live bait. Cast the bobber and twitch it back to the boat, stopping and pausing between twitches.
