The judge presiding over Cardi B's civil assault trial is Ian Fusselman, a Los Angeles County Superior Court judge since 2021.

Fusselman was a mediator at ADR Services in LA before he took the bench, and he spent 23 years in private practice before he was appointed by Gov. Gavin Newsom.

He sped-read the jury instructions aloud on Wednesday (August 27) after the close of evidence. Jurors will return to his courtroom in Alhambra on Tuesday (September 2) for closing arguments and final instructions.

The lawsuit alleges Cardi scratched a security guard's face with her long fingernail during a confrontation in February 2018 when Cardi was at an OB-GYN office in Beverly Hills, California, for a pregnancy check up.
