How to Become a Visionary Medical Affairs Leader

“Our greatest weakness lies in giving up.”
—Thomas Edison

Has this ever happened to you?

I misplaced my car keys one day and spent hours looking all over for them. Later, my friend asked me where I finally found them.

“In the last place I looked,” I said and groaned.

That was actually pretty funny, because—why would I keep looking once I’d found them?

But the important part is that I kept looking until I found them. And I did that because I was 100% sure they were somewhere in the house. I mean, my car was parked outside!

When we’re trying to enter a non-traditional career, it’s hard to be as certain there’s a job out there “waiting for us” as I was about knowing my car keys were nearby. It can be very discouraging at times.

For example, did you ever have a great interview, but not get the job? And did that make you want to give up? Full disclosure, I have.

But if you’ve looked on your key rack, and in the kitchen, and in your coat pocket, and even in the driveway, and still no car keys… would you give up on finding them?

Today’s podcast with Dr. Savi Chadha is an important reminder for us to keep looking, keep going, and never give up. In the nonclinical world, we can’t take rejection personally.

Despite aiming for a competitive field in the Pharma industry and getting turned down multiple times, Dr. Chadha kept looking until he found a hugely rewarding position as an MSL where he makes a meaningful impact on patients’ lives—without running on the hamster wheel of clinical medicine.

Not only did his persistence pay off, but he has risen to the top of that field.

LISTEN HERE as he describes how significant your contribution to medicine can be without counting RVUs or seeing 6 patients per hour!

Thank you for listening.
