NH-90NFH SAR CAIMAN Demonstration - Belgische luchtmacht - SANICOLE 2024

The NH-90 helicopter, a key asset of the Belgian Air Force, will showcase one of its primary missions during the International Sanicole Airshow on September 21-22 in Hechtel-Eksel. Belgium operates two variants: the NFH (NATO Frigate Helicopter) and TTH (Tactical Transport Helicopter), used for missions like search and rescue (SAR), troop transport, medical evacuation, and anti-submarine warfare.

At the airshow, the NH-90 NFH will perform a simulated search-and-rescue mission, similar to those regularly conducted along Belgium’s coast by the 40th Squadron based in Koksijde. Recently, the NH-90 also assisted in evacuating a burning building in Liège.

The NFH variant is designed for naval operations, supporting anti-submarine and surface warfare missions. It is also deployed on Belgian and Dutch frigates during international operations, such as escort missions in the Red Sea to protect against threats from Houthi rebels. Its advanced features, including fly-by-wire controls and modern avionics, make it a crucial asset for Belgium's defense.
