This video discusses the main problem with using a shell as a surgical guide for placement of dental implants and the technique for a more rigid guide for improved control. This technique was quite effective until advances in digital workflow in implant dentistry. Currently (as of this update in 2020), all surgical guides should be designed using total digital workflow and fabricated using either 3-D printers or mills for optimal accuracy.
