THE WEIGHT OF LOSS.

I’ve been sitting on this cover for almost 2 months now, not really knowing why. Maybe I was grieving. Maybe I didn’t want to show weakness or vulnerability. Maybe I just wanted to keep it private as we’re living in a time where it seems like everything has to be shared on social media or it doesn’t exist.

Or maybe, I’m ready to finally “let go” before the year ends.

I recorded this barely a week after losing not 1, but 2 very dear family members not even 2 weeks apart from each other.

Just grief through music. I guess that was it. I let everything roll, and just started wondering through the fretboard, thinking which song I should play.

10 minutes later, in an instant, it came to me: @d‪@dvntownsend‬ “The Way Home”, and by just changing 1 word, the whole song made perfect sense to honor them both.

Each one of them had a unique impact on my life, so I post this in their memory, in honor of the life they lived and what they meant to everyone, and to remind everyone that griefing is necessary, that someone’s aunt or grandmother is someone’s mother, to turn something awful such as death or loss into a message of love and support.

Here’s to them. May you find peace throughout your new journey on your way to your new home. Death is not the end. It never is.
