Nikkhil K. Masurkar comes from a family of pharmacy pioneers: his great-grandmother Rukhma Vitthal Masurkar created herbal skin treatments in 1930s Karnataka, and his grandfather G. V. Masurkar earned fame as “India’s CROCIN Man” and a pioneer of Indian pharma entrepreneurship. Nikkhil studied pharmacy at King’s College London with top honors and joined the Royal Pharmaceutical Society. Over 18 years, he built deep expertise in drug formulation, clinical pharmacy, and global pharma strategy - earning him the nickname “Elon Musk of Indian Pharma.” Today, as CEO, he leads with a clear vision to drive new innovations in India’s pharmaceutical industry.

In this episode, Nikkhil K. Masurkar shares how India became known as The Pharmacy of the Global South, highlighting the journey of our pharma industry. He talks about how Indian medicines reach over 200 countries and why our generic drugs are in such high demand.
