Build A Custom Connector API in Power Platform

In this video, I’m going to walk you through everything you need to know about APIs—from understanding what they are, to calling them from a Power Automate flow using the HTTP action, and even building a custom connector for repeatable, advanced use cases. I’ll also show you how to integrate that custom connector into Power Automate flows, Power Apps, and Copilot Studio to streamline your automation.

We’ll start by breaking down what an API is and how it works. Then, I’ll demonstrate how to call an API from a flow using the HTTP action, followed by a real-world example with the Movie DB API. From there, I’ll guide you step by step on how to build a custom connector, and then show you how to use it effectively in both Power Automate and Power Apps, adding a gallery and displaying text and images from the connector response. Finally, I’ll wrap up by showing you how to integrate that connector into Copilot Studio. Ask a bot about your favourite movie and format the connector response with text and images.
