Sun Moon Lake (Nantou, Taiwan)

The largest lake in Taiwan, Sun Moon Lake (日月潭) is situated at the foothills of Taiwan’s Central Mountain Range. The lake has such breathtaking views that it is designated as one of the “Eight Beautiful Scenic Attractions” in Taiwan.

It is possible to drive around the lake (~30km), though the more adventurous would usually prefer to explore the lake via cycling. Bicycle rental outlets can be found at many locations around the lake.

Shuishe Pier 水社碼頭 (00:38)
The main town of Sun Moon Lake. Most of the lake cruises depart from this pier.
During our visit, we went on a 40-minute cruise around the lake. The cruise is a 3-stop shuttle service going around the lake (and stopping at 3 different jetties).

WenWuTemple 文武廟 (02:03)
A grand Chinese-palace style Taoist temple overlooking the lake.
