একাদশ সংসদ নির্বাচনকে ঘিরে চুয়াডাঙ্গা-দুই আসনে সক্রিয় হয়ে উঠেছে রাজনৈতিক দলগুলো। দলের কেন্দ্রীয় নেতাদের সঙ্গে লবিং শুরু করেছেন মনোনয়ন প্রত্যাশীরা। গত দু'বারের মতো আগামী নির্বাচনেও জয় চায় ক্ষমতাসীন দল আওয়ামী লীগ। নির্বাচনী মাঠে না থাকলেও আসন পুনরুদ্ধারে প্রস্তুতি নিচ্ছে বিএনপিও।

দেশের অন্যতম সীমান্ত উপজেলা দামুড়হুদা ও জীবননগর উপজেলার দুই পৌরসভা ও ১৫টি ইউনিয়ন নিয়ে গঠিত চুয়াডাঙ্গা-২ আসন। ভোটের রাজনীতিতে এখানেও বরাবরই বিএনপি জোটের আধিপত্য।

১৯৯১ সালে বিএনপি নেতৃত্বাধীন জোটের হয়ে নির্বাচিত হন জামায়াত নেতা হাফিজুর রহমান। পরের দুই নির্বাচনে জয় পান বিএনপির মোজাম্মেল হক। ২০০৮ সালে আসনটি দখলে নেয় আওয়ামী লীগের আলী আজগর। সবশেষ নির্বাচনেও জয় পান তিনি।

এ অবস্থায় একাদশ জাতীয় সংসদ নির্বাচনে আসনটি নিজেদের করতে মরিয়া হয়ে উঠেছে বড় দু'দলই। আওয়ামী লীগের সম্ভাব্য প্রার্থীরা দৌড়ঝাঁপ শুরু করলেও মাঠে নামেনি বিএনপি। তবে ভোটের লড়াইয়ে এগিয়ে থাকতে ২০ দলীয় জোটের একক প্রার্থী নিয়ে মাঠে নামতে চান দলটির নেতারা। সরকারের উন্নয়নের কারণে জয় নিয়ে আশাবাদী আওয়ামী লীগ।

Political parties have become active in Chuadanga-2 constituency surrounded by eleven parliamentary elections. Lobbying with party central leaders has started nomination candidates. Awami League, the ruling Awami League, wants to win in the next election for the last two terms. The BNP is preparing to retain the seats but not in the election field.

The Chuadanga-2 constituency comprising two municipalities and 15 unions of Damurhuda and Jibannagar upazilas of the country's most notable border districts. There is also the rule of BNP alliance in the politics of voting.

In 1991, the Jamaat leader Hafizur Rahman was elected to the BNP-led alliance. BNP's Mozammel Haque won the next two elections. In 2008, Awami League Ali Azgar took over the seat. He won the last election.

In this situation, the big parties have become desperate to make the seat in the eleventh parliamentary elections. Awami League prospective candidates started the race but BNP did not field. But leaders of the party want to get away with the single-party candidate of the 20-party alliance to continue the fight. Awami League hopes to win due to the development of the government.
