This walk begins at the end of the tarmac road beyond Blinkbonny Wood and follows the right of way track up the slope of Threep Law to the summit of Lammer Law. The route then drops down the steep sides of Harley Grain and follows the floor of the cleugh, the path eventually becoming a track. The track winds its way along the southern shore of Hopes Reservoir which dates from 1933 and supplies drinking water to 2500 local inhabitants. The embankment dam of the reservoir was built from the rubble of Calton Jail in Edinburgh when it was demolished in the 1930s. The walk continues along the public road back to Blinkbonny Wood.
