In this web development tutorial, i'll take you through the basics of what media queries are and how you can use them to make a responsive web design which allows content to adapt to the available screen space it has available.

Probably the most important part about media queries is how they work with layout especially when it comes to things like rows and columns. In the video, i'll show you how media queries can be used to update an existing three column layout which initially doesn't fit very well on a small screen mobile device and make this adapt, gradually, to different screen sizes with CSS media queries.

The ultimate result will be that the media queries for mobile devices will allow us to put the elements on our page in to one single column so that the content is easy to work with and doesn't waste any precious space on mobile devices.

We'll also look at the media print CSS rule which allows you to customise the printed output of a page depending on certain CSS rules that are applied.
