The Statue of Unity stands as a tribute to Sardar Patel, an emblem of unity and leadership. Situated majestically near the Sardar Sarovar Dam, it commands a picturesque view from its location on Sadhu-Bet Island in the Narmada River, surrounded by the Vindhyachal and Satpuda Mountain Ranges. This monumental statue, standing at 182 meters (597 feet), symbolizes the spirit of Vallabhbhai Patel, India's first deputy prime minister and home minister, renowned for his pivotal role in unifying the diverse princely states into a cohesive nation. The project, announced in 2010 and constructed by Larsen & Toubro starting in October 2013, cost approximately ₹27 billion (US$422 million). Designed by sculptor Ram V. Sutar, the statue was unveiled by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on 31 October 2018, commemorating Patel's 143rd birth anniversary.
