The Prospect Mountain Summit near Lake George offers a 100-mile, 360-degree view. You can get there by vehicle via the Prospect Mountain Veterans Memorial highway for a fee, or simply hike the trail. The trail is quite rocky, and you'll need to pay particular attention to the markers so as not to lengthen your hike by detouring off another path. In short, keep to the left as you climb and you should be able to follow the main trail. As for us, we branched off without realizing it and made an extra loop. The summit is well laid out and, in addition to the view, you'll find the remains of an old cable train mechanism.
